Coat of arms unveiled by The Lord Mayor of London

25th May 2017

Mel was delighted to be asked by The Worshipful Company of Painter Stainers, to create in traditional stained glass the coat of arms of the Lord Mayor of London Andrew Parmley.

The window is installed in the Great Hall at Painters Hall in London, where it was unveiled by the Lord Mayor on 25th May 2017 at The Barnett Dinner celebrations.

New Window for Durham Cathedral

August 2016

Mel Howse has been commissioned to design and make a new window for Durham Cathedral. The stained glass which is expected to be installed in 2018, is in memory of Sara Pilkington who was a student at Durham University. It is intended that the art will reach out spiritually to all those who visit the Cathedral, and celebrate the link between the Cathedral and the University.

The Vortex Font features in QEST Magazine

Spring 2014

The new Vortex Font features in The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust Magazine. Mel Howse (glass and enamel artist) and Hannah Grifiths (mosaic artist) have created a stir at St Cuthbert's Church in Portsmouth with their craft installation.Mel and made a remarkable baptismal font in red enamel and spun steel, entitled The Vortex Font.

Mel is confirmed as a speaker at the 2014 conference in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania, USA. The conference takes place between 26-30 June 2014. The keynote speaker is to be Narcissus Quagliata
